Colourbox Matte X Lippie Stix Review & Swatches

August 31 //  by Kelly Baum

Happy Monday! And boy, do I have an exciting review today! What better way to kick off the week than with a new product review from ColourPop? I’ve never made an order from ColourPop before but I finally broke down last week when they launched their new Matte X Lippie Stix and ordered two shades, Poppin and Boa. This is their new, “ultra-matte” formula that is both buttery smooth and packed with color. So of course, I had to put them to the test!

This formula is definitely very, very matte. If I wear it on top of a lip balm it becomes much more soft and easy to work with, but it’s much less matte. I actually prefer wearing it over a lip balm because it makes it much more comfortable for me to wear, personally. But if you prefer the straight up matte finish, it’s definitely achievable with these.

These colors aren’t exactly as they appear in the tube or online. I thought Boa would have more of a pink tone to it but it’s a very cool-toned lavender. Same with Poppin, I thought it would be more of a berry or pink toned-red but it looks like a straight-up bright red in real life. So just a heads up, these colors are slightly different on the lips!

Overall this is a good formula, it’s very pigmented and glides across the lips. I think these are really fantastic for the price, but I’m not sure that I’m overly wowed by them to want to buy more. But if I did it would definitely be the darker shades because Poppin leaves a really lovely stain when it starts to wear off – totally worth the time it takes to get the application perfect!

I’d love to know, have you tried anything from ColourPop?

Thanks for reading,
