Essie Nail Lacquer In Oui Madame, Review & Swatch

August 30 //  by Kelly Baum

Oui Madame is a pearly, sheer white color that looks a little lavender/gray in some lights.
When I did my nails, I had to put four coats of this polish on. Four coats. Now normally I don’t mind putting 2 or 3 coats on, but I had to do four before the color really started to show. Just know that the color is very sheer-my nail line is pretty visible in most lights.

Yay for my first Essie polish!

I also wanted to try out “Break the Ice” by Wet n Wild from the Mega Last line, so I painted that on my pointer finger, and it’s slightly less pearly and more shimmery than Oui Madame is. But they go great if you layer them on top of each other.

Break the Ice

The only problem I have with the Essie polish is that the formula is very thin and because of that, it’s highly prone to chipping and cracking, which happened on my nails halfway through the second day.

Wet n Wild Break the Ice & Essie Oui Madame

The Pros:
The color is beautiful, pearly & sheer
The Cons:
The formula could be a little bit thicker to resist chipping.
The Bottom Line
8.5/10
I really like this color, and for the four days I wore it, I got a lot of compliments. I recommend it!
