Cleansing with WATER? Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Review

I am incredibly bad at my skincare routine. Like as a beauty blogger, I should be ashamed! I just get so tired at night that I never want to pull out my cleansers and moisturizers because I would much rather fall in bed and wash it off in the shower in the morning. But that is not a good way to treat your skin so I finally caved and picked up the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Well, I didn’t exactly cave because I had a good coupon and had to use it on something, but I still am very glad I decided to try this!

If you’re not familiar with cleansing waters, they are exactly as how they sound: a water with a few added ingredients to help cleanse your makeup. There’s several on the market like Bioderma, a french cleansing water that can run upwards of $20, and drugstore options like ones from Simple and Garnier that retail for around $8.

I’ve been testing this out for a few week and my overall impression is that it’s a good, gentle makeup remover. I have slightly sensitive skin and I don’t find that this is irritating or makes my skin look red and blotchy in any way.

That being said, it doesn’t exactly remove all of my makeup. I tried on a full face of foundation and after six cotton pads I still couldn’t remove all of it. I just don’t think it’s meant to remove more than a light layer or two of makeup.

THE FINAL VERDICT: B+

I love to use this because I don’t have to rinse my face or get too indepth with the makeup removal process, but I really only use it on my eye makeup because foundation is too much for this to remove. But, I do like using it and removing some makeup is better than removing none at all!

I’d love to know, do you use a cleansing water?

  1. I’m using this cleansing water too, but for me it’s enough to remove my BB cream, I use about 3-4 cotton pads and still cleanse it with facial foam afterwards to make sure I remove all the residue. I think double cleanse is very important 🙂

  2. I love this cleansing water because it’s really gentle on my eyes. I used to use the Neutrogena wipes and oil, but it was too harsh on my eyes. This water is perfect for me!
