What I Do When I Have Bad Skin Days
Chantecaille Magnolia, Jasmine & Lily Healing Emulsion, $120 – this is a healing cream that I use after I’ve done a light microdermabrasion to soothe and calm my skin if it’s overreacting. I realize if this is a bit pricey so look for an alternative moisturizer that’s specifically labeled to calm sensitive skin.
Paula’s Choice Daily Skin Clearing Treatment, $12.75 – this has 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. If you’re not familiar with benzoyl peroxide, it’s a bactericide, which means that is kills the bacteria that causes acne. You don’t need to use a high concentration, in fact, it’s better to use lower concentrations since it can dry out your skin-hence why I follow up with a healing emulsion cream.
dr. brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant, $78 – this is a highly-rated at-home microdermabrasion treatment. It’s pretty strange to use this, it’s like rubbing your face with fine sand paper to be honest, but it’s what I grab on those days when a regular exfoliator just ain’t going to cut it. It isn’t as effective as going to a professional for microdermabrasion, so when things are really bad I will book in with the Luxe Body Spa. But for those days when you can manage it yourself, this is great.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, $23 – heavennnn in a jar, baby. Even if this actually does nothing for my skin I just like the act of putting a calming sleeping mask on, smelling the wonderful herbs, and drifting off to sleep.
So there you have it! My current skin fixers, the bad night erasers, and the early morning savers! I’d love to know what skincare products you use in situations like this, let me know in the comments!
