Editor’s Corner: What’s in my travel makeup bag?

June 11, 2013Kelly Baum

With all the traveling to be done this summer, here’s a little peek into my makeup bag to get some ideas on traveling light with your makeup!

I don’t see the need for foundation or powder while traveling, so a BB cream that has light coverage and a natural finish.

If you’re not planning on going out a lot, a lip balm with SPF is the perfect choice-besides, I don’t want to risk my nice lipsticks melting in the car!

Mascara tubes can get big & bulky real quickly so a sample size is the best travel friendly option.

I don’t bring powder with me but I do bring a face primer because the sample size options are so tiny and it’s the best way to ensure my makeup doesn’t melt off in the heat!

If I’m on vacation the last thing I’m going to do is bring a palette-it’s bulky & I’m just not going to spend time blending & doing crease work in the hotel. So, I found these great Friday Glow cream eyeshadows from Clio that seriously, do not budge. It doesn’t have much pigment but it makes your eyes look glowy and awake!

You definitely do not want those brows moving around in the heat so this $1 clear brow gel from elf is a travel must-have.

Tweezers. Just in case.

Especially since I only take a BB cream with me I make sure I don’t leave home without a concealer-a heavy duty one, at that.

I probably don’t need a blush, but I can’t not go without a little color on my cheeks. This elf cream blush is awfully bulky too, but it fits!

As always, in my luggage I carry SPF, travel cleanser, and travel moisturizer-something you should never forget!

So what are staples in your travel makeup bag? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading,
Kelly xoxo

Traveling does not always have to cost you an arm and a leg … There are ways to save money to stretch your travel budget. Booking things in advance is not always a smart idea … for me, last minute bookings work.

I always have to have a medium-full coverage foundation that I can use on its own or mixed with my face moisturizer, mini mascaras, eyebrow pencil and spoolie, and bronzer that can be used as my contour, blush, or eyeshadow.

I never thought of using a bronzer in such a versatile way! I’ll have to remember that tip next time I travel! xoxo
