This Glycolic Acid Solution Already Has a Cult Following

When a product has over 300 five-star review on Sephora, you don’t just look at it, you buy it!

This Glycolic Acid Solution is by the brand The Ordinary, which I featured recently in a brand “primer” (hah – see what I did there!) because I’m in love with any skincare that I can get for under $10 at Sephora. At the time I’m writing this, this Glycolic Acid Solution already has over 300 5-star reviews on Sephora – that’s pretty impressive for a bottle of toner that retails for $8.70.

Hey girl, what is it?

Specifically, this is a Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. According to Sephora, this is good for any skin type and targets dullness and uneven texture.

Why You Need a Glycolic Acid Solution

Toning is an essential part of any skincare routine – it restores the ph balance of the skin, and should be used between cleansing and serums. Glycolic Acid is an interesting skincare ingredient on its own – it’s naturally found in sugarcane, pineapple and sugar beets, just to name a few. What it does, is it easily sinks into the skin, reacting with the first few layers of skin to target lipids and weaken the bonds that hold dead skin cells to our skin.

In a nutshell? It exfoliates the top layer of skin.

I’m currently testing this out and use it twice a week – I have very sensitive, eczema-prone skin on my face so I’m very gently with exfoliation and keeping the ph balance. I also use a steroid cream on several areas on my face to keep eczema flares at bay, and I use this sparingly to keep the status quo.

So far? My skin doesn’t look like a unicorn, yet! But, I like it so far. I experience a little bit of tingling when I apply it, so that’s why I use very little.
