My DIY Work Bag for Girls Who Carry their Life Around

January 5, 2018Kelly Baum

So a few nights ago I was driving home from work when I noticed this horrid burning smell coming from my heat vents – I was only 30 minutes away from home so I hit the gas to at least make it back to the the house…when my car shut down and completely died on the side of the freeway. And then because the weather was bad, I couldn’t get a tow for two hours. Safe to say, it was a rough start to the new year! But, I will always say that going through that is now why I carry my life around with me, basically. Just that morning I had taken my power bank out of my bag to make room and that was a bad move. I’ve been searching for a while now to find the perfect work bag that was the best combination of quality and organization and I couldn’t find one that I like in my budget…so I DIY’d my own!

I had looked at probably 500 bags before I found this Travel Dome from G by Guess. I carry around a laptop, shoes, water, wallet, makeup bag, chargers, power bank, and more on my daily commute to work so I really needed a bag that would truly stand up to the weight. I’d given up on tote bags because the handles would break within a month due to the strain, which is why I love how this travel dome is shaped.

This travel dome has plenty, and I mean plenty of side pockets on the inside with a wipeable lining, but it was missing something. I ended up ordering this camera bag insert on Amazon which gives me all compartments I need to keep it organized! And the best part is, that when I go on photography jobs, I can put all my camera equipment in here without even needing to change bags!

So if you’re looking for a solid and reliable work bag for under $100, give this a look! I wish I had found something like this 2 months ago, it would have saved me all the trouble!

Kelly, your sunglasses are so cute. The frame really suits you. Also, this bag is great. I love how it is compartmentalized. That means it stays neat and you can find your stuff easily. Have a great 2018.
