I can’t even begin to tell you how stressful August was overall – moving is no small feat, that’s for sure! It was time to find a new crash pad and I ended up moving two cities over to a one bedroom apartment. It’s not the first time I lived on my own but it is the first time I had a little money to make the place feel at home. I have (and this is not a joke) been preparing and shopping for at least six months before I moved and it is so incredible to finally see all my planning in reality! I think the biggest victory of the whole move was the fact that I built my whole couch by myself – and it was one of those were the directions specified two people had to put it together! Here’s how I decorated a new home and links to where I purchased everything.

Sofa – Dannie 84″ Sofa from Joss and Main // Chaise Lounge – Marnie Chaise from Joss and Main // Coffee table – DIY’d // Sofa pillows – JoAnn Fabrics // Nail head side table – DIY’d // TV stand – Ikea // White shelf unit – Ikea // Seashell lamp – Home Goods // Dining table – Fleurance Dining Table from Wayfair // Bed frame – Ikea // Nightstands – Ikea // Nautical magazine holders – Amazon // Pineapple pillow – Target

How it came together –

I spent a lot of time looking at images on Pinterest to figure out exactly what I wanted. I don’t start any design project without gathering inspiration, and then I meticulously find every item, down to the rose that is locked in a glass box in my tv stand. Every item has a purpose and that’s my key to a well-designed home. Everything has purpose and was picked for a reason and for me, it works!

How much it cost –

I worked with a very, very limited budget. The key is to spend money on items that really need it. To save money I repainted my coffee table and refinished the top, and I also DIY’d my side table from two ugly brown Ikea Lack side tables. Wayfair/Joss and Main is a great place to shop for furniture on a budget. I highly recommend Wayfair delivery services!

And there we have it! A cozy, nautical-inspired home successfully decorated on a budget!
