It was a beautiful seventy degrees in Michigan this weekend and I can’t tell you how excited I am for summer to finally get here! I have so many exciting travel plans this summer that I literally can’t wait. I’ve been preparing already, buying new luggage, making itineraries and doing a little extra prep work to help my skin get that vacation glow before I’ve even stepped off the plane! Preparing for vacations can take a lot of time and stress but my five time-saving hacks to prepare for vacation take little to no time at all.
Five Time-Saving Hacks to Prepare for Vacation
// GRADUALLY GLOW OR INSTANTLY TAN
Going on a trip can take a lot of time and work and the last thing I want is for my skin to show it in the photos later! Starting about two weeks prior to a trip I start a daily skincare routine using the JERGENS® Natural Glow® Wet Skin Moisturizer and the JERGENS® Natural Glow® Instant Sun® Sunless Tanning Mousse. I was shopping for new lotions at Walmart and came across these! Note, they are located in different parts of the beauty section so you may have to hunt for them. If you’re planning to self-tan, it’s important to start with a moisturizer that’s meant for a streak-free, natural-looking color. Then I lightly apply the JERGENS® Natural Glow® Instant Sun® Sunless Tanning Mousse that works with your skin tone to deliver a flawless tan instantly. Voila!
// PACK THE ESSENTIALS TWO DAYS BEFORE
This is my ultimate secret: I pack all of my essentials and toiletries two days before I leave and “live” out of those, that way if I’ve forgotten something important, I’ll know instantly! There’s nothing worse than realizing you’ve forgotten to pack socks or your favorite bottle of shampoo and this trick solves any problems.
// INVEST IN PACKING CUBES
Usually all of my clothes end up in a jumbled mess by the time my trip is over and I have no motivation to clean it out and do laundry! I invested in a set of packing cubes with are little zippered cloth cubes that I use to separate my pajamas, outfits, undergarments, and even dirty laundry! It’s a great way to travel, for the overly-organized like me.
// MAKE A MORE VERSATILE MAKEUP BAG
I’m always tempted to travel with more makeup than a supermodel and that is no good for my luggage space. I’ve paired down my travel bag recently to include items that are more versatile or that I can get more than one use out of. Things like making my own small custom palettes with a brow powder, neutral eyeshadow, blush and stick foundation really do make a difference. One of my favorite tricks is using my favorite lipstick both on the lips and the cheeks as a blush, that way I don’t have to take another bulky face product with me.
// LAYER YOUR LUGGAGE BY DAY, RATHER THAN BY ITEM
I like to take advantage of the time I have while traveling and that doesn’t include picking outfits! I preplan my outfits by day and then layer my luggage in that style, that way there’s no worry that I’ve forgotten a matching shirt or shoes to a particular outfit.
