If you caught my post a few weeks ago on choosing the right color to redecorate your home, then you’ll know that I have been itching to reveal my newly-redecorate bedroom! My last post focused on the interior design book Change Your Home, Change Your Life™ with Color by Moll Anderson, an inspirational interior designer, which launched March 14 at Target (in stores and online) and after reading Moll’s thoughts and notes on colors, I decided it was time to transform my boring, bland bedroom to a new navy blue bedroom by introducing a pop of color here and a pop of color there. Here’s the reveal!

Can you believe the difference? Gone are the mismatched shams and the white space and in are the navy blues, pineapples and blankets. I have a very “nautical” personality, I have a real affinity for the sea, sailboats, etc., so blue is naturally my favorite color. I really took Moll’s words to heart in the chapter on blue by introducing new textures and metallic accents that compliment the navy really well. I sleep on gold foil pineapple sheets now and I’m in love!

It was really important to me to keep a good balance of white space in my navy blue bedroom – as a designer, my aesthetic is very minimalistic and I like to carry that into my environment. After picking up the book at Target, I decided to get a few new pieces: I stuck with a gorgeous beige bed blanket and navy blue pineapple pillow which compliments the pineapple sheets really well. I found these blue frames from the dollar section at Target for only $3 and they were perfect to hang above my bed with a few photos from last year’s Mackinaw trip.

And of course, I had to finish off with a few of my favorite textural accents like fresh flowers, a faux fur rug, and my new wicket picnic basket! All together, this is becoming my favorite space ever. The navy blues give the space a calming, trusting feel and the gold accents give it the perfect touch of glam I needed.

So now I challenge you to go our and discover your color story! It’s time to give a space in your home a makeover and infuse your environment with your personality. Every room is a canvas, it only matters what colors you want to paint it with!

I’d love to know, what color would you redo your bedroom in? Let me know in the comments below and don’t forget to pick up a copy of Change Your Home, Change Your Life™ with Color by Moll Anderson for some inspiration!
