Spring is FINALLY in the air and I am so excited! I feel like I’ve been shut up inside the house for months and I can’t wait to get out and do all the fun things on my list for 2017. After doing my taxes this year that refund is just begging to be used for something good this year. The BF and I were discussing what we wanted to do with our weekends this summer and I thought it was the perfect way to maximize our refund and get some more quality time together! I just bought the Walmart Family Mobile Plus Plan, which is unlimited* Talk, Text, & Data which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE (*Includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE† data then 2G) plus a free VUDU movie credit every month ($7 value) per line for $49.88, and I thought this was the perfect starter for our best spring date night ideas!
10 Spring Date Ideas on a Budget
1 – Outdoors picnic
I love a good spring picnic. I packed sparkling waters (perfect for a picnic!), apples, pretzels and small sandwiches for our most recent one and it was delightful! I played a jazz playlist through my new phone, the Samsung Galaxy On5 and it was great to not have to worry about running up the data or something because I had 10GB to use for the month!
2 – Local coffee house tour
I love local coffee houses that aren’t necessarily big national chains – they have a lot of character and a lot of really good coffee! There’s several that I’ve planned a little “tour” of to try them all!
3 – Farmers Market
I love to cook so a farmers market is my favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning so I can buy all my supplies for Sunday brunch or a picnic!
4 – Local outdoors concert
In Michigan, the local orchestra plays quite a few outdoors “neighborhood” concerts and other local music initiatives that are one of my favorite ways to take a picnic to or just enjoy the music for a great price.
5 – Day trip
Planning a small day trip doesn’t have to cost a lot and I love to use my phone and data plan to stream music, directions (I’m a terrible driver so this is a must!) and Pinterest so I can plan while we drive!
6 – Redecorate a small space
It’s spring so take the chance to change up a small space! Whether it’s buying a new end table or painting the laundry room, I like to keep a list of all the supplies I need and inspirational photos on my phone to make it easier when we go shop at hardware or home goods stores.
7 – Movie night with movie-themed food
The Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan comes with a little something extra: a free VUDU movie credit ($7 value) which I use to plan a movie night with movie-themed food! It’s basically the same price as a rental so it’s my go-to budget-friendly way to kick movie nights at home up a notch.
8 – Berry picking
I love fruit and it’s a great idea to go with a spring picnic or Sunday brunch! I’ll definitely be putting my picnic basket to good use this summer.
9 – Baseball game
I’m not much of a sports enthusiast but sitting outside and enjoying a weekend baseball game is definitely one of my favorite ways to spend a Sunday afternoon.
10 – Weekend brunch
I love to take all those fresh foods and berries I bought and turn them into a gorgeous Sunday brunch, complete with coffee, french toast, and my favorite jazz playlists to stream.
