OOTD: Baby It’s Cold Outside

Our tree and all the lights are finally up. Can we just have a moment of silence for everyone in the holiday struggle to get ALL the decor up right now? I know, it’s the most stressful time of the year…but also the most exciting! I feel like I always talk about the weather when I blog but the temperature seriously dropped, it was ridiculously cold outisde in Michigan this week – I had to drive home in freezing rain and snow on Sunday night and never have I ever been so happy that I wore my J.Crew Excursion Vest and my duck boots. These were a must!

This was a classic “winter” outfit for me: I always aim for a mix of style and function because watching me fall on my butt in heels in the dead of winter is not cute! I’ve had these duck boots for a few years now and they’re a pretty good alternative to L.L. Bean boots (*although one of the labels on the back did fall off).

I don’t tend to accessorize my winter outfits much because my gloves and scarves get in the way, but, I love to carry my Cambridge Satchel Co. bag because this thing is tough. The harshest season calls for the most durable bag and that’s definitely my all-leather satchel!

And of course, no winter outfit is complete without a warm beanie, knit just for me by my mom herself! I’m proud to say that this outfit made it through nearly 16 longs hours of errands, more errands, snow, freezing rain, and a quick nap after it all! Definitely an “all-purpose” look. If you haven’t grabbed one yet, I highly recommend snagging a vest from J.Crew before the weather gets too harsh – they’re perfect for layering!
