Blog Income and Traffic Report June 2016
// not sponsored
Another month has gone by and wow, has it flown! Can you believe the summer is halfway over? June was such a busy month and I regret not having as much time as I wanted to dedicate to A Thing of Beauty but you know how real life goes, there’s never time for everything you want to do! Traffic was up again this month due to two advertising campaigns I scored through my blog posts. It’s always a breath of fresh air when I get those “Congratulations” emails in my inbox, it makes all the hard work seem worth it! Let’s dig into A Thing of Beauty’s blog income and traffic report, June 2016.
BLOG INCOME AND TRAFFIC REPORT JUNE 2016
Before we dig in, here’s a little bit about the blog:
A Thing of Beauty is over 5 years old now and has passed the $10,000 revenue and 50th sponsored post mark this year. My main source of revenue is sponsored blog posts (I don’t offer side bar ads for the sake of having a pleasant looking blog!) but I’m starting to think of ways to branch out and diversity my income – perhaps an eBook will be coming your way in the future!
Hooray for upping traffic again! Of the posts that I was able to put up, I worked really hard on so it’s nice to see that it’s paying off in my numbers. And being picked up for a few ad campaigns also really helped.
Also, in June I started a content audit of my site where I went back to post number one to delete posts or refine their pictures and SEO structure to bring them up to speed. I haven’t seen any major traffic spikes due to that yet, but at least my site overall is getting stronger thanks to doing a seo audit! You can learn more about performing a content audit on your blog with this detailed, step by step guide from Moz.
Income and Expenses
-Sponsored blog posts: $275
-Affiliate links: $0
-Web hosting and email: $140 (annual fee paid this month)
I was a little disappointed this month but not surprised. Most campaigns pay out in net 30 days and that means any campaigns I had done in May would have been paid in June. But since I moved in May and wasn’t taking on many campaigns, I didn’t get a big payout in June. But I have a lot of upcoming partnerships and thank goodness I’m projecting more earnings this month!
I also switched to Amazon Associates affiliate links this month. While doing my site audit, I’ve gone back to clean up any affiliate links and change them over. I’ve seen a strong spike in clicks but no orders yet so time will tell if this was a good change.
Goal 1: Keep up my traffic. You never know when your post will get picked up for an ad campaign on Google or Facebook so I’m concerned that I won’t be able to keep those numbers up in July now that the campaigns are done. I’m going to start publishing my weekly newsletter again and posting every day to try to supplement any traffic losses.
Goal 2: Stay on task. I have a lot of projected sponsored posts this month (three to go, currently) so my main concern is staying on track with my obligations.
Phew, blogging is hard work! I hope you enjoyed my transparency about how things run behind the blog, and don’t forget to follow or sign up for the newsletter which I promise to get out this week!
