Well I finally jumped on the trend bandwagon for a hairstyle! I’ve been in quite a hair slump for the past year and was desperate for a freshening up. So a few weeks ago I told my hairstylist to do her best and chop six inches off so I could experiment with a “lob”!
If you’re not familiar with the “lob”, it’s basically a long bob that’s very piecey, textured,
a little hipster and wavy. Basically it looks like you rolled out of bed but your hair was already cool enough that you didn’t even have to do it.
Before we get into how I style my long bob each morning, here’s a few tips if you’re struggling:
//Don’t brush your hair. This sounds gross, but it takes any natural curl I had out of my hair. This is essential if you’re doing the heatless method. Instead, I brush it out before I wash it if you’re concerned about knots and such.
//You don’t need a whole lot of products. In fact, I found that the more product I used, the more “crunchy” it looked. It was not a good look.
//Your hair has to be barely, barely damp. It needs a little moisture to scrunch, but if it’s too damp then your hair will dry crunchy and wet-looking. Also not a good look.
So here’s how to style a lob in under five minutes and with no heat!
And that’s literally all. I start with slightly damp hair, scrunch it a bit, and then add some hairspray while I scrunch. When it looks tousled enough, I shake it and set it with a light layer of hairspray and it’s done!
Also, in case you’re wondering, I got that massive can of Aussie hairspray from Walmart for under $4. You can use any hairspray you like, but I just like that I got a buttload of hairspray for so cheap.
