Five minute yoga session
Not everyone has time (or let’s face it, the ability) to go for a good run in the morning. So, instead try a 5-10 minute yoga session. Put some Enya on at a low volume and start trying out some easy poses-yoga has a lot of great healthy benefits and it’s a great way to get your blood flowing and open your mind for a new day!
Fruit & yogurt parfait for breakfast
Behold the power of a good breakfast! First of all, don’t skip it, and if you aren’t into breakfasts, try making a parfait the night before with greek yogurt, granola, and your favorite fruits (I’m really into pomegranate at the moment!). All of those proteins and vitamins are a great way to get your day off to a good start.
Get in the groove on the way to work
I’m always listening to the music so this is a big point for me-get in the groove on the way to school or work. Pick a selection of songs that are happy but easy listening and create a playlist from there. My number one suggestion is “Mr Happy” by Johnny Rock-trust me, this song will change your morning!
Shower in the morning
If I shower at night I have a lot harder of a time waking up in the morning! But this definitely works-taking a shower in the morning is a great way to force yourself to wake up. And if you’re really that tired, take a cold one, the shock alone will definitely get you awake!
Stagger your alarms
I set three alarms every morning, each at ten minute intervals before the time I actually need to get up. I find that this pulls me out of my sleep cycle at a much slower pace. Just be careful that you don’t get in the habit of hitting the snooze button too many times!
So that’s it, I hope you picked up a tip or two to get moving in the morning! It’s not easy, but it must be done!
How do you get going in the morning?
