Neutral palette lovers rejoice! There is another great nude shade palette at the drugstore, the elf Everyday Smoky Palette which is only…(wait for it) $10! I recently reviewed the Mad for Matte Eyeshadow Palette which I do enjoy using, especially now that fall is upon us and I typically wear darker, more matte shades at that time of the year. But, I also really enjoy the mix of shades that’s in the Everyday Smoky Palette, too! Here’s what I think of this palette and if it’s worth your $10:
Overall I give this palette a thumbs up!
The formula is creamy and smooth on almost all of these shadows. There are two, third and eighth from the left in the swatches above, that the formula is pretty poor-as in chalky, chunky and crappy. But, for the rest of the shadows it’s an average drugstore eyeshadow formula. Not the best, but certainly far from the worst!
The darker shades in this palette are very rich and pigmented, but the mattes could definitely be improved upon.
You get 10 eyeshadows for $10 so definitely a good value.
And in case you’re curious, here’s how the shade selection compares to the L’Oreal La Palette Nude 1, another popular drugstore neutrals palette that retails for $20:
Personally, the elf Everyday Smoky Eyeshadow Palette is the better buy because it’s $10 cheaper, you get a mix of warm and cool shades, and you get some deeper blacks and grays to use as liners.
Here’s a video with more swatches!
