Almay Intense I-Color Trios Review & Swatches!

Almay Intense i-color Eyeshadows, review and swatches
So I just finished watching the second season of Homeland and I’m definitely feeling a void in my life. I haven’t sprung for the third season on DVD yet, but I might have to. If you’re into spy/political thrillers, Homeland is definitely a show for you! Just beware, there’s a lot of intense themes in it so it takes some mental power to watch.

Back to the makeup, I have two of the Almay Intense I-Color trios to review today, one in Trio for Hazel Eyes and one in Trio for Blue Eyes. I never pay attention to what eye color palettes are for because here I have a smoky palette and a nudes palette. This is the first time I’ve really tried anything from Almay (I won a prize pack on Twitter from them) and I’m pretty impressed so far. My latest review was of their new Butter Kiss lipsticks and I really am liking the shade I have (although I can’t find it at the moment and you know the feeling if you’re ever lost a favorite lipstick) and am excited to try out and review the other products I won.

These are all shimmer finishes and the formula is on the drier side. It was still easy to apply with a brush, it’s just not as buttery as say, an Urban Decay eyeshadow. Overall I didn’t have a problem with the formula, you do have to build them up a bit to get a good pigmented application but it all turns out well. I do really like the shade combos, Almay did a good job combining shadows that I actually want to use all of.

I went over each of these swatches twice but if you use a base or a primer you only need one swipe. I must say, I’m not much of a “smoky” palette kind of person but I really like this one. The middle purple shade is really pretty and they all blend nicely together without being too harsh.

Overall I really like these, I can definitely see myself reaching for these often. I can’t say that I would necessarily repurchase these, but they are great trios to have on hand! Click here to check out the nude palette and click here to check out the smoky palette!

I’d love to know what you think, would you pick up either of these palettes? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for reading,
Kelly xoxo

I’ve been meaning to try something out from Almay. They seem to be the “forgotten” drugstore makeup brand. I’m not in the market for shimmery shades, any other suggestions?

I agree, it’s a brand I’ve kind of glossed over as well. If you’re going to try something from Almay right now, I would say to check out the Butter Kiss lipsticks, I had one and I really enjoy it!
