Today I would like to share a little different of a post-why I got started in the beauty world. I’ve been blogging on beauty for over three years now and while this does not make me an expert, it is my (favorite) hobby and the reason why my career is what it is today.
In high school I was a shy, insecure person who, as most teenage girls might, owned a lot of makeup. I loved writing and I loved art and I decided an easy way to combine those and one day, A Thing of Beauty was born. And through it I was able to develop skills that have helped me add another dimension to my personality and traits as an individual and have certainly helped me with where my career is today. And I wouldn’t be who I am today without my blog or the beauty that I fill it with. Suddenly my shyness and insecurity disappeared as I was able to connect with others with stories about my blog and the various beauty-related posts I do for it.
I want you to celebrate beauty as both a career and a career-supporter in your own unique way. Beauty may not be my entire career but it’s where I’ve fostered my social media, networking, graphic design, photography, writing, and relationship skills that have transferred into my everyday life.
Regency Beauty Institute is one of the leading cosmetology schools in the nation that celebrates beauty and creativity as a career. They have 88 campuses across the country and have been able to grow over the years by taking an innovative approach to learning and helping students to turn their creativity into beautiful careers everyday.
So with my little story in mind I’d like to share some details on Regency and Refinery29’s #ShareBeautyContest, which runs from July 8th-August 13th.
