Why you need a cream blush!
I didn’t really understand the hype surrounding cream blushes before I bought some-I though they weren’t as pigmented as powder blushes nor would they be as easy to apply and blend.
Here’s why you need a cream blush:
–Blendability: if you get the right cream blush formula, they blend really well. I prefer to use my fingers when applying it but a small stippling brush is also a popular choice. I’ve not had a streaky, patchy, or uneven application yet!
–Color: if you find that your powder blush fades easily, layering it on top of a cream base is a great way to help it last longer.
–Pigmentation: as you can see from the swatches above, layering really brings out the color of a powder blush. I did the powder blush swatch first, the cream blush swatch second, and then layered for the third.
–Keeping your complexion: when I’m going for a really dewy/glowy look I find that powder blushes look a little too cakey. Cream blushes melt into the skin and keep in line with a healthy glow!
The blushes I used are from e.l.f. (eyes lips face) and retail for $6 each. I’ve had really good experiences with these (click here to read my in depth review). If you’re looking to try something a little cheaper, try the Maybelline Bouncy Blushes or NYX cream blushes!
What do you think? Are cream blushes a staple in your makeup collection? Let me know in the comments!
