FIRST IMPRESSION: Studio Gear Cosmetics
I won this lovely little Studio Gear prize from the blog Miranda’s Makeup and More (click here to check out her blog!) and it is the perfect set to get introduced to this brand. Included was a face primer, eyeshadow trio, and mascara.
I’ve tried these three items a few times and so far, I’m not particularly impressed. With the amount of money that these items retail for, the quality should be a lot better than what I would find at the drugstore.
My biggest beef with Studio Gear is the amount of parabens used in their products-I’ve seen better ingredients lists on products at the drugstore and it really bothers me when high-end brands use cheap ingredients.
So after trying everything, here’s my “first impressions” on each of the items:
-Eyeshadow trio in Study in Taupe, $24
The colors in this trio work really well together, and I would say that the lightest shade is comparable to Naked Lunch by MAC and the darkest shade is comparable to Satin Taupe by MAC, as a point of reference. I usually use the lightest shade over the lid & the darkest in the crease & lash line, which is the look I did in the photos above.
I’m really unimpressed with the quality of these shadows-it looks like I’m wearing nothing on my eyes. It doesn’t look much more impressive in real life, either.
-Impactfull Pro T.L.S. mascara, $17
Once again, I was really unimpressed with this. The brush is really nice, but the formula is way to wet to really do anything for my lashes. And, it transferred to my lid easily because it’s so wet. A real miss, in my opinion.
-Prime Objective Face Primer, $30
Honestly, this is just another silicon face primer. There’s nothing special about it, which in my opinion makes it very unworthy of its $30 price tag.
So what do you think? Have you tried any products from Studio Gear? Let me know in the comments!
